This document reports on the training activities within the ISP2 event and results; whic was designed to disseminate the potential of the SHAMAN framework for digital preservation in the context of Industrial Design and Engineering, mainly aimed at manufacturing companies and industrial designers.

This deliverable, D14.3, reports the results of the demonstration and evaluation of the further work on the development of digital preservation applications for industrial design and engineering.

The SHAMAN Reference Architecture is an Enterprise Architecture-based approach that enables the accommodation of digital preservation concerns in the overall architecture of an organisation. For that, a capability-based model of preservation based on established digital preservation key references and best-practices from related fields was derived from research on the stakeholders of the domain, their concerns, goals, and influencers (drivers and constraints). The result is a general understanding of the domain, providing a multidimensional view on the concepts covered on these key references. The approach taken with this reference architecture enables the transfer of DP know-how into a non-traditional repository-based DP scenario, since it is itself agnostic to concrete scenarios. In other words, this capability-based approach can deliver value to organizations in which the preservation of contents is not a main business requirement, but required to enable actual delivery of value in the primary business.

This document describes the components of two demonstrators for the Integration & Demonstrator Subproject 1 which focuses on memory institutions.

They are prototypical archiving systems which demonstrate distributed ingest systems within selected application scenarios. The main audience at present consists of people who are interested in the early SHAMAN developments and who have a basic knowledge of digital preservation. The demonstrators will be further refined and merged in the course of the project. A demonstrator is publicly accessible on the SHAMAN website.

SHAMAN Training Plan reports on the objectives of the Training Plan within the context of the SHAMAN project, detailing on the activities, methodologies and the schedule of the main operational aspects of training activities to be performed within the project lifecycle.

SHAMAN Implementation of Templates to Manage the Ingest Workflow (Deliverable 6.3) primarily holds the software based on the Xeproc© Domain-Specific Language.

Xeproc© technology lets one define and design document processes while producing an abstract representation that is independent of the implementation. These representations capture the intent behind the workflow and can be preserved for reuse in future unknown infrastructures.

Xeproc© is available under Eclipse Public Licence. In addition, D6.3 includes dedicated XML document processing components accessible as web services.

In Part 1, a set of requirements for each of the three SHAMAN Domains of Focus (memory institutions, industrial design and engineering segments, and e-science - DoFs) which support the derivation of fundamental cross-domain requirements has been presented. In Part 2, an assessment framework for the SHAMAN project is described and an initial set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the whole project, for individual work packages and for outputs is described.

The document identifies high-level features required by a preservation system. These include those found in the OAIS, as well as additional features not present in the OAIS
